Reskill to stay relevant, says WEF report

By 2030, half of South Asian youth will not be able to find  jobs due to lack of skills as per a report by UNICEF. An estimated 54 per cent of South Asian youth leave school without the necessary skills to get a decent job in the next decade. Recently, the World Economic Forum (WEF) published the Future of Jobs Report 2020 and some shocking statistics were revealed. In the next five years, automation and a new division of labour between machines and humans will disrupt 85 million jobs around the world.

Working remotely is here to stay for the foreseeable future and workers will be expected to change careers and pick up new skills consistently to adapt to new labour trends. In fact, 94% of business leaders report that they expect employees to pick up new skills on the job. The report also states that an estimate of 97 million jobs may emerge from these new labour trends, roles like data analysts, process automation specialists, IoT specialists, robotics engineers, strategic advisors will emerge while roles like relationship managers, , door to door sales, accounting and bookkeeping will be obsolete.

Launch of High-Speed Long-Range etrance neo

The IIT Hyderabad-incubated start-up PURE EV is going to launch Etrance Neo, its high-speed long-range model, on December 1, 2020. The new model offers a higher pickup and longer range combined with modern aerodynamics.

The Etrance Neo offers a pick-up speed of 0 to 40 kmph in five seconds. Its 2,500 Wh-patented battery offers the vehicle a range performance of 120 KM for a single charge in eco-mode. The scooter chassis is designed for higher speeds at par with the conventional ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) two-wheelers.

Highlighting the unique features of Etrance Neo, Rohit Vadera, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, PUREV start-up, said: “The new model has better aerodynamic features for additional improvements in powertrain efficiency. The vehicle has faster pickup and longer range.”

Srm mchrc at the forefront of covid battle

The facemask is a life mask, says Pro Vice Chancellor (Medical) Lt Col Dr A Ravi Kumar of SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRM MCHRC), Kattankulathur. Speaking to press personnel at a meet organised at SRM MCHRC, he emphasised on the importance of staying and following safety measures in order to prevent the second wave of COVID 19. 

SRM MCHRC is now in the process of conducting the third phase of the COVAXIN shot which will be administered to nearly 1500 volunteers. The first phase human trials at SRM MCHRC began in July with 30 volunteers.

Present for the press meet were SRM MCHRC's Pro VC (Medical) Lt. Col. Dr A Ravi Kumar, Dean (Medical) Dr A Sundaram, Medical Superintendent Dr K. Thangaraj, Dr R Balamurugan, Deputy Medical Superintendent and Director (Communication) R Nandakummar.

“The third phase will see the efficiency of the vaccine. The result will be known only by February,” the Pro VC tells you.
