Teachers Shouldn’t Be Too Dependent on Technology as a Teaching Strategy

Teachers have to move towards modern strategies of teaching. Several online resources are available to expand learning and make it more fun. Teachers have to be creative in using these resources so that students will listen and engage. The good thing is that students respond well with the use of modern technology. They become more enticed to listen, and they’re easier to control.

Although the use of computers and mobile devices is a good thing, they also have some downsides. Younger learners shouldn't get exposed to these devices for a long time. They're not yet capable of processing the information found on their phones, and it's unhealthy for them. Overexposure to radiation could also pose health risks, including cancer and liver problems. The worst part is that children can easily get addicted to technology. They won't participate in other activities anymore if they get used to it. As such, teachers have to find creative ways to teach the class apart from using computers and other devices.

Go back to traditional visual aids

Back then, teachers have to use flashcards, write on the board, draw posters, and use board games. You can do the same thing. It helps if you try going back to these strategies. They will make the students feel more engaged, especially if they are yet to try those learning aids. They might be challenging to prepare, but the class activity could be fun and meaningful.

Student interaction is necessary

Another problem with online activities is that they’re mostly individual. Students face their screen all the time. Even if they have to compete with one another, they don’t need physical interaction. Everything happens virtually. As such, you need to try other activities requiring student interaction. You want them to move around the classroom or try to talk to each other. You can play charades, group quiz competitions, spelling challenges, and brainstorming sessions. You want the students to talk to each other more often in a fun and academic environment.

Encourage the use of EMF protection

The worst part about using computers all the time is the risk of radiation exposure. However, since you need to use the computer for some activities, the best option is to encourage the use of EMF protection. You want everyone to stay protected since this device blocks radiation from penetrating the body. Students can wear it or place it somewhere close to them. It would be difficult for radiation to enter the body and pose health threats with the use of EMF protection. You can also limit their exposure to the computer by properly designing the flow of your lessons.

Hopefully, you learn how to use modern technology appropriately. It makes teaching preparations easier, but it also has other risks. You want your students to learn in a fun, safe, and healthy environment. Always look for creative ways to achieve your objectives in class. It might take time and effort, but it would be worth it.
