1,036 new Covid cases, 23 die in J&K

Twenty three Covid-19 patients died in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on Monday while the total number of recoveries reported a slight jump in comparison to total number of fresh positive cases.

 According to the media bulletin,  1,158 patients  recovered and discharged from different hospitals while 1036 new cases were detected taking the tally of active positive cases of Coronavirus to  21887 while the death toll reached 1024.

Out of these 1036 fresh cases, Jammu division reported 536 and Kashmir division reported 473 cases.  On the other hand, out of 23 deaths, 14 deaths were reported from Jammu region and nine patients died across Kashmir valley on Monday.

Out of a total number fo 65026 positive cases,  42115 patients have recovered so far while 21887 are active positive. Out of these 12643 cases are active in Jammu and 9244 in Kashmir region.

On the other hand, the team of doctors headed by Principal Government Medical College,Jammu Dr NC Digra Monday claimed the premier Health Institution is catering well to all sick patients amid the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The Principal said that the Hospital is tackling the situation well despite manpower issues. “Maximum positive cases admitted in the hospital have recovered. The recovery rate of the hospital is no less than the National Average”, he said and added 12 covid patients have been discharged in last 24 hours after full recovery.

Dispelling the reports about shortage of the manpower, he said the issue has been tackled well as the medical staff is working round the clock to cater to the patient care. “Presently there are 46 patients on titrated oxygen and we have 150 oxygen beds vacant and there has been no causality in the last twenty four hours” he added.

Listing the special measures taken to scale up patient care amid the Covid pandemic, he said the GMC&H Jammu is catering to all the sick patients, including the covid patients.
