nWorld of medicine and healthcare lost one of its greatest sons as Dr P R Krishna Kumar, eminent Ayurvedic physician, breathed his last on Wednesday night.
Dr Krishna Kumar, a physician who mastered Ayurveda through the Gurukula system of education was 69 and was under treatment for pneumonia at Coimbatore.Son of legendary Arya Vaidya P V Rama Warrier who founded Coimbatore Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, Dr Krishna Kumar was active till pneumonia struck him a week ago.
He had submitted a detailed protocol for treating Covid-19 patients and was closely associated with medical warriors like Dr B M Hegde and Dr C V Krishnaswami.Dr Krishna Kumar had been honoured with Padma Sri by the President of India for his selfless services to humanity and was courted by leaders of many countries seeking guidance and direction about health care policies to be followed.
“Ayurveda would get its due position only if we establish Indian Council of Ayurvedic Research and our policy makers understand that Ayurveda too is a branch of medicine like modern medicine,” Dr Krishnakumar had told The Pioneer dates before he fell ill."Shri P.
