The CBI has booked a private company based here and its directors for hosting contents online relating to child sex abuse.
Searches by the agency against the accused firm yielded electronic devices and other incriminating materials.
The agency conucted searches after it registered a case against a private company based at Paschim Vihar in the national capital and its Directors and unknown persons under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and relevant provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
“It has been alleged that the said company hosted websites of Russian domain containing objectionable material pertaining to child sexual abuse. The case involves the alleged jurisdiction of India, Netherlands and Russian Federation as of now vis-à-vis the location of servers, facilitation of hosting of objectionable material and owner of the objectionable contents,” the agency said in a statement.
Searches were conducted at the residence-cum-office premises of the accused including a private company and its Directors in Delhi which led to recovery of electronic devices and incriminating documents /material, the spokesperson added.
Earlier, the CBI had established a Special Unit “Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention/ Investigation(OCSAE)” here for matters pertaining to online child sexual abuse and exploitation. Apart from receiving various references/coordination, the unit is undertaking investigation of various offences relating to online child sexual abuse and exploitation.
The case was registered by the OCSAE which seeks to specialise in investigation of such offences against children.
