As the face off continue between Indian and Chinese troops at four points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh and Sikkim, around hundred Chinese students studying in Mysore University at Southern city of Mysuru will fly back to China in June as the University has decided to hold examinations for them earlier than scheduled to facilitate their evacuation from India.
These Chinese students are studying Information Technology courses in Mysore University, one of the oldest universities in the country. They are set to leave India following China’s appeal to its citizens to return to their homeland.
In response to an appeal from the collaborative university in Central China for holding examinations early in view of special fights arranged for the evacuation of Chinese citizens from India, the University, which had earlier scheduled the examination from June 10 to 15, agreed to hold it from June 1 to 6. These students are from Central China and studying MS (Information Technology) and MS (Software Engineering) courses specially designed for them as per an MoU and being run since past 10 years.
According to Mysore University Vice-Chancellor G. Hemantha Kumar the decision was taken to hold examinations earlier than scheduled following a communication from the partner university for Chinese students to facilitate them to go back to their country.
According to university officials these students are in first year of their courses, can pursue their second-year study in their homeland as the UoM was ready to provide online class support to them till they complete their courses.
