Welfare Party of India, the political outfit launched by the Jamaat e Islami, came out on Monday questioning the legality of the arrests of three migrant workers from Ernakulam district by the NIA on Saturday.
“We cannot believe the version of the NIA that the three were arrested because of their links with Al Qaeda. These arrests smack of a conspiracy,” said Hameed Vaniyambalam, WPI, president, in a statement released to the media.
According to Hameed, the news being spread by the investigation agency is with the objective to create Islamophobia and also to help the Sangh Parivar elements.
“Their intention is to create ethnic hatred for the migrant laborers among the local population. These innocent workers are being portrayed as terrorists,” said Hameed.
He also questioned the rationality of the evidence released by the NIA to the media.
Hameed said that the NIA itself was a threat to the federal system of the country. He asked the Kerala Government to get itself impleaded in the case against NIA filed in the Supreme Court. “The media and social activists should not believe the version of the NIA in these cases as the central agency has ulterior motives in releasing such news,” he said.
