MAHA COVID RECOVERY RATE GOES UP

The Covid-19 recovery rate jumped further in Maharashtra from 73.84 per cent to 75,.36 per cent on Tuesday, as 20,206 more people were discharged from hospitals after full recovery, taking the total number of recovered patients in the state to 9,36,554.

On a day when 392 more people succumbed to Covid-19 in various parts of the state, 18,390 more people tested positive for the pandemic, taking the total number of infected persons in the state to 12,42,770.

With fresh 392 deaths, the Covid-19 toll in the state mounted from 33,015 to 33,407.

A day after Maharashtra posted a record 32,007 recoveries, 20,206 more people were discharged from the various hospitals. With Tuesday’s development, the total number of patients discharged from various hospitals after full recovery since the second week of March this year crossed 9 lakh-mark to touch a final tally of 9,16,348. The recovery rate rose to 75.36 per cent. The mortality rate in the state stood at 2.69 per cent. The number of “active cases” in the state came down further From Monday’s figure OF 2,74,623 TO 2,72,410.

Of the total 392 deaths reported on Tuesday, Pune accounted for 62 deaths, while there were 50 deaths in Mumbai, 39 in Thane, 21 each in Raigad, Kolhapur and Nagpur, 18 in Sangli, 17 in Jalgaon, 16 in Ahmednagar, 14 each in Solapur, Satara and Nanded and 10 in Palghar

Similarly, in the lower range, there were 9 deaths each in Nashik, Latur and Amravati, 8 in Osmanabad, 7 in Ratnagiri, 5 each in Aurangabad and Bhandara, 4 each in Parbhani and Beed, 3 in Gadchiroli, 2 each in Buldhana, Washim and Chandrapur and one each in Nandurbar, Jalna and Hingoli. In addition, three persons from outside the state died in Maharashtra.

With 50 deaths, the Mumbai’s Covid-19 toll rose from 8,505 to 8,555 while the infected cases increased by 1,628, to trigger a jump in the total infections from  186,276 to 187,904

In a related development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Minister Rajendra Shingne dismissed speculation that there was shortage of essential Covid-19 treatment drugs from several parts of the state.

“We have discussed with the drug companies and we shall get over One Lakh Remdesivir vials in the next five days which will take care of the situation,” Shingne said.

Meanwhile, Pune district with 2,67,019 infected cases continued to be the worst-affected city-district in Maharashtra. The number of deaths in Pune increased from  5306 to 5368.

Thane district remained on the third spot --after Pune and Mumbai – with 1,73,621 total cases, while the pandemic toll rose from 4546 to 4585.

Out of 60,17,284 samples sent to laboratories, 12,42,770 have tested positive (20.65 per cent) for COVID-19 until Tuesday. Currently, 18,70,200 people are in home quarantine while 34,982 people are in institutional quarantine.
