The ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) has received proposals of 392 km metro rail from six States with an estimated cost of Rs 1,27,825 crore so far. The proposals have been received from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, remaining three corridors of Delhi metro phase 4 and Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the ministry data, the remaining three corridors of Delhi Metro Phase IV –Inderlok-Indraprastha, Rithala-Bawana-Narela, and Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridors would be 44 kms long and it would cost Rs 12,635 crore. The deadline of the project is December 2024.
Bangalore Metro Rail Project (Phase 2A and 2B) will be 58 kms long and it would cost Rs 14,844 crore. The project is expected to be completed within 45 months from the date of sanction.
Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase –II is 119 kms long and it would cost Rs 63,246 crore. The dealine of this project is June,2026.
Maharashtra’s metro rail projects include Nagpur, Thane, Pune and Nashik. The total length of these four cities’ metro will be 119 kms and it would cost Rs 22,961 crore.
