A day after grilling actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family members, the Enforcement Directorate ED on Tuesday questioned late film star Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend and roommate Siddarth Puthani and business manager Shruti Modi besides recording the statement of deceased actor’s elder sister Meetu Singh in the ongoing money-laundering probe.

The ED has not traced anything to prove that Rhea fraudulently siphoned off Rs15 crore from Sushant’s account, as alleged by his father. . 

Pithani and Modi arrived at the ED’s Mumbai office at around 11 am in keeping with the summons but Meetu Singh reached a while after 1 pm. Modi is a named accused in both the abetment to suicide of Rajput and resultant money laundering case in the matter.

It’s the first time a member of Rajput’s family is appearing before the ED in the case

in the ongoing probe and her statements are expected to substantiate the allegations of abuse of the late actor’s bank accounts.

Both Pithani and Modi were also questioned by the agency on Monday and their statements were recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Modi was even questioned on Friday.

Pithani had earlier recorded his statement with the Mumbai Police as part of an accidental death case under the CrPC.  The ED is probing if Pithani too was linked to the late actor’s business interests or had any information about Rajput’s investments, sources said.

The ED is probing suspected money laundering in the alleged transfer of Rs 15 crore from Rajput’s bank account in one year to accounts of persons not known or connected to the late actor.

Modi was questioned on funds transfers of small amounts to Showik’s account from those of Rajput and Chakraborty. Chakraborty, Showik and Modi were confronted with the bank statements to the effect during the grilling session on Monday.

Modi was also quizzed on the allegations that Chakraborty took decisions for Sushant including those relating to finances and projects.

The ED is also looking into at least two companies linked to Rajput and some financial deals involving prime accused Chakraborty, her father and brother Showik who are said to be directors in these companies.
