5,902 new coronavirus cases in Maha, 156 deaths

Maharashtra's coronavirus tally on Thursday increased to 16,66,668 with 5,902 new cases being reported, a health official said.

The state also recorded 156 deaths, taking the death toll due to COVID-19 to 43,710, he said.

A total of 7,883 patients were discharged after treatment during the day, taking the tally of recovered people to 14,94,809.

There are 1,27,603 active patients as of now.

Mumbai city reported 1,120 new cases which pushed its caseload to 2,55,360, while death toll in the city rose to 10,229 with 33 fatalities being recorded on Thursday.

The state has so far conducted 88,37,133 tests.

The Mumbai division, which consists of Mumbai city and satellite towns, reported 2,076 new coronavirus cases, raising the count to 5,79,154. A total of 17,891 people have died so far due to COVID-19 in the region, the official said.

The number of cases in the Pune division stood at 4,23,108 and deaths at 9,495, the official said.

Nashik division's cumulative case tally stood at 2,23,014 and death toll at 4,211, he said.

Kolhapur division has reported 1,08,596 cases and 3,639 deaths till now, while Aurangabad division's case tally stood at 62,170 and death count at 1,558.

Latur division has reported 68,675 cases until now and 2,030 fatalities.

Akola division has recorded 52,311 cases while 1,238 people have succumbed to the disease until now.

Nagpur division has recorded 1,47,503 infections and 3,502 fatalities, the official informed.

2,137 COVID-19 patients from other states have received treatment in Maharashtra, including 146 who died.

Maharashtra's COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases: 16,66,668, new cases: 5,902, death toll: 43,710, discharged: 14,94,809, active cases: 1,27,603, people tested so far: 88,37,133.
