Monday, 28 September 2020 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The Smt Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust on Sunsday objected to Google search mentioning September 27, 2020 as the “Daughters Day 2020”. Via a tweet to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the SNSMT stated that June 9 is observed as the National Daughters Day (Nandini Diwas) in India as a mark of respect to legendary Nandini Satpahty.

It too mentioned that Nandini means daughter and Diwas means day in Sanskrit. The Daughter’s Day is observed on Satpathy’s birth anniversary on June 9 every year. In year 2007, Daughters Day was launched by then Governor of Orissa and it was supported by then PM Manmohan Singh.
