‘Kids face eye problems for online teaching’

Wednesday, 27 May 2020 | PNS | BHUANESWAR

The Odisha RTE Forum on Monday urged the State Government to review the manner of online teaching being provided by private schools during the Covid lockdown as many of children have complained of eye problems.

“It has come to our notice that due to online teaching by private schools many children are going through stress and some of them have experienced acute eye problems. In view of this, the Government should review the manner in which online courses are being offered,” said forum convenor Anil Pradhan.

He said children generally relax during holidays, particularly in summer vacation. In the name of digital education, children should not be subjected to avoidable stress. Children would not lose much if classes are not conducted for two to three months. Children’s life is much more important than their education, pointed out Pradhan.

He also demanded that the Government enhance school capacities to accommodate more children as many migrant families along with their school going kids have returned to the State. The Government should withdraw the decision of closing schools in the name of low attendance, he demanded further.
