Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) completed all its preparations before announcing name of its candidate from Bermo Assembly bypoll and only formality remained to announce Kumar Jaimangal Singh also known as Anup Singh's name for Congress candidate from the seat.
It is noteworthy that the bye-elections are to be held for Dumka and Bermo, two Assembly seats in Jharkhand. While JMM is in the fray from Dumka, the other partner in the coalition Government, Congress will contest from Bermo seat.
Bokaro District Congress Committee (BDCC) sent the list of candidates to JPCC headquarters for the Bermo Assembly seat. The list includes the names of three aspirants. Apart from Singh the other aspirants for the party tickets are A Soren, Shahsi Shekhar Choubey and SS Gope. Those who expressed their desire to contest the Bermo Assembly bye-election, applied to be the president of Bokaro District Congress.
Singh is son of veteran trade union leader and six times Congress MLA from Bermo, Rajendra Prasad Singh and he is former Jharkhand State Youth Congress president. The bypoll was necessitated for Bermo seat due to veteran Congress leader and six times MLA, Rajendra Singh died. Singh won the election from the Bermo Assembly.
According to the reports submitted by BDCC apart from Singh, three other applicants are not from Bermo constituency and their identity in politics is also relatively less than Singh. The recommendation of the list of candidates for the bye-elections in the Bermo Assembly constituency will be sent to the Central Election Committee (CEC) before October 5 by JPCC.
JPCC Spokesperson Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo said that the party is ready for the bypoll and JPCC Chief Rameshwar Oraon visited Bermo two times. In a meeting with the party Block presidents of Bokaro District he directed them to start poll preparation and complete booth committees, he added.
"The party district committee submitted its report to JPCC Chief, Rameshwar Oraon and he will send it to CEC to finalise the name of the candidate but it is sure that Anup Singh will get the party ticket and he will win by double margins of votes than his father won in last election," said Shahdeo.
Jharkhand Youth Congress president Kumar Gaurav said that the party has started its poll preparation from two months earlier and each and every Youth Congress workers are visiting door to door to ensure Congress candidate;s victory from the seat. This time the Congress candidate will win by double margin compared to last election, he added.
