‘Patients with breathing problems, take extra care in winter’

Friday, 30 October 2020 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

In the past few days there has been a drop in the number of Covid patients. But ahead of winter, an expert has warned people with breathing problems to take extra care as they can be easy targets of Covid infection.

“In winter temperatures will be low and pollution levels will increase. These two factors have adverse effects on patients with breathlessness. If proper care is not taken, then the health of such patients can deteriorate, increasing the chances of Covid infection,” Dr O.P. Sundarani from Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital here said in a press release.

He asked the patients to strictly follow the Covid protocols, use masks, sanitizers and avoid going in crowded places.

He also asked the youths to stick to the Covid protocols.

“Their carelessness can make them infected which could jeopardize the high-risk members of the family such as old age (people). Taking precaution in advance is better than lying in ICU,” Sundarani said.

He added that despite recovery from Covid  infection, health complications could emerge in the longer run.
