On the one hand the workers’ unions claim that their three day strike was completely successful but on the other hand there are various examples that the employees were forcefully prevented from entering their workplace, Central Coalfields Limited officials said on Saturday.
According to the CCL sources on the first day of the strike on Thursday a total of 1278 workers had made attendance, on the second day on Friday 43 per cent more workers than Thursday came to work.
During the lockdown from various dispatch points of the Company on an average 26 rakes were dispatched per day, during the strike it came down to 15 rakes on the first and second day of the strike so it can be said that the strike partially affected the coal dispatch of the company, the sources added.
The strike has been called in protest against allowing commercial mining in the coal sector and almost all major central trade unions - Hind Mazdoor Sabha, INTUC, AITUC, CITU and Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh backed BMS were agreed to go on a three day strike to catch the attention of the Central Government’s decision in this regard.
