Tuesday, 24 November 2020 | PNS | Bokaro

Amidst sturdy initiatives and rapid awareness program cases of Tuberculosis (TB) in Bokaro district have been escalating rapidly not only among the urban or semi-urban population but among the innocent tribal.

Health officials opine that there is a need for awareness among people, especially when they are in public spaces.

According to the reports all total 5152 people were screened during January to October 2020 in which 1258 new TB patients were identified. While TB claimed 17 lived during the same tenure in the district, the report reveals.

Few of those who died from TB had reportedly discontinued to intake medicines during the middle of the treatment due to several reasons, including due to lockdown or Coronavirus pandemic, said Dr NP Singh, District TB Officer Bokaro.

As far as the drug is considered we provide quality drugs, free of charge. The main reason behind the increase in cases is lack of awareness among the public.
