One more city resident succumbed to COVID-19 while 86 persons were tested positive in Chandigarh on Friday. With this, the total toll reached 28 and the tally of positive cases stood at 1928. There were 807 active cases in the city till the evening.
The recovery rate of COVID-19 positive patients reduced to 56 percent and the fatality rate recorded was 1.45 percent. A day before, the city had witnessed the highest single-day spike with 91 COVID-19 cases.
“A 20 years old male resident of Sector 47 with a history of paraplegia had a sudden cardiac arrest on August 11. He was sampled after death and reported as positive for COVID-19 on August 12,” stated Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin.
“Out of 86 positive cases, 62 were detected through RT-PCR testing while the rest of the cases were found through rapid antigen testing. The positive cases were reported from Sectors 8, 15, 21, 24, 26, 27, 29, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38 west, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 49, 48, 55, 56, 63, PGIMER, Burail, Ramdarbar, Dadumajra, Kishangarh, Khuda Jassu, Manimajra, Kajheri and Mauli Jagran,” the bulletin stated.
Among the positive cases included a two years old female child and six years old male child from Sector 49, three years old female child from Sector 33 and five years old girl from Sector 47, it added.
