The State has a total of 10,210 sex workers in 22 of the 30 districts..
This was informed by Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das in the Assembly on Wednesday while replying to a question.
The Minister said that the Government identified the sex workers during a survey as per the guidelines of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). All the identified sex workers are covered under the AIDS control programme, he said. According to the survey, Baleswar district has the maximum of 1,050 sex workers, followed by Koraput and Mayurbhanj districts with 750 each, Keonjhar 700, Khordha 610 and Cuttack 250.
