As many as ten cybercriminals were arrested by a team led by Cyber DySP Sandeep Suman in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Sunday. The cyber police in a special drive arrested the criminals within limits of Bengabad, Ganday and Ahilyapur police station areas in the district.
Police seized 21 mobile phones, 9 bank passbooks, 43 Sim cards 11 ATM cards, two bikes,3 pan cards and voter ID 5 from them, said SP Amit Renu.
The arrested have been identified as Ranjit Mandal, Pawan Kumar Mandal, Dilip Goswami, Pintu Kumar Mandal,Aklesh Kumar Mandal, Saddam Ansari, Saffaudin Ansari, Md Salakat Ansari, Md Arif Ansari and Kundan Saw.
The arrested criminals used to target people through e-wallet, Paytm and other such medium to earn money easily. Jharkhand’s Giridih, Deoghar and Jamtara districts have emerged as cybercrime hubs in the State.
In past six months, over 50 cyber criminals have been arrested from these three districts. According to the police, people in poor economic condition have built properties in the districts from the money amassed by committing cyber thefts. The properties of 10 cyber criminals have been attached in Giridih district.
