Coronavirus infections claimed 10 more lives in the State on Monday, increasing the total death toll to 207. While Ganjam and Rayagada districts reported three deaths each, Gajapati reported two and Khordha and Kalahandi one each.
The Ganjam deceased included a 48-year-old man, a 54-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman. The deceased in Rayagada included a 70-year-old man, a 64-year-old man and a 61-year-old man.
The two fatalities in Gajapati were a 34-year-old man and a 44-year-old man. The other deceased was a 66-year-old man of Kalahandi and a 63-year-old man of Khordha.
Meanwhile on Monday, as many as 1,384 more persons tested positive in the State, pushing the total number of positive cases to 36,297, including 14,095 active ones.
Of the new cases, 873 were detected from quarantine centres and 511 were local contact cases.
The day’s highest 331 cases were reported from Ganjam district again followed by Khordha 211, Koraput 97, Sambalpur 93, Cuttack 89, Baleswar 79, Gajapati 61, Balangir 51, Sundargarh 46, Malkangiri 39, Rayagada 38, Bargarh 33, Mayurbhanj 29, Nabarangpur 26, Bhadrak 25, Jagatsinghpur and Nayagarh 22 each, Jajpur 18, Angul 13, Dhenkanal and Kendrapada 11, Jharsuguda seven, Subarnapur six and Kalahandi and Nuapada four each.
However, a record 1,119 patients recovered on the day, taking the total recoveries to 23,073. It was for the first time that the State recorded over 1,000 recoveries in a single day since the outbreak of the pandemic.
The highest 354 recovered in Ganjam district followed by Khordha 97, Gajapati 83, Jajpur 70, Keonjhar, Cuttack 50, Boudh 40, Nayagarh 37, Rayagada 35, Puri 31, Baleswar 30, Mayurbhanj 29, Bhadrak 28, Jagatsinghpur 27, Dhenkanal 24, Sundargarh 22, Kandhamal 17, Balangir and Sambalpur 16 each, Malkangiri15, Nabarangpur 12, Kendrapada 11 Angul and Koraput five each, Baragarh four, Subarnapur three and Jharsuguda one.
