11 new patients push Covid-19 tally to 122

Continuing its disturbing upward trend in the number of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases, the health department of Uttarakhand reported 11 new cases of the disease in the State on Wednesday. With them, the tally of the disease in the State has mounted to 122. On the day, four cases of the disease surfaced from Udham Singh Nagar district while two cases each were reported from Uttarkashi and Nainital districts. One case each was detected from Almora, Haridwar and Tehri districts.

In Udham Singh Nagar, two 31 years old male patients were reported from Jaspur while a 35 year old male patient was found in Kichha. In Rudrapur, a 29 year old male was found positive. In Ranikhet (Almora), a 19 year old male was found positive while in Nainital a 29 year old female and 21 year old male were found positive for the disease. In Haridwar district -which from last many days had not reported any case- one 32 year old male was found positive on the day. This patient has travel history from Mumbai.

In Uttarkashi, a 38 year old male who had recently travelled from Delhi and a 29 year old male having travel history from Mumbai were found affected with the disease.

A 25 year old male who has returned from Mumbai was also found positive in Tehri district on the day. Incidentally Tehri district was free from the disease till Wednesday.

The spurt in the cases of the disease has further brought down the recovery rate of the disease to 43.44 percent. Incidentally this rate was about 67 percent few days ago.

The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said reports of 719 samples were found negative for the disease on Wednesday while 11 were found positive. He added that reports of 1,538 samples are still awaited by the department. On Wednesday, a total of 719 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 15,503 suspected patients for COVID-19 test.

The State now has 68 active cases in the State with Udham Singh Nagar district at top of the table with 22 active cases. With discharge of one patient on Wednesday, Dehradun now has 17 active cases while Nainital has 15 active cases. Uttarkashi district has four active cases while Pauri has three active cases.

Almora and Bageshwar districts have two active cases while Tehri and Chamoli have one active case each.
