14 more die; State Covid toll now 1,671

Fourteen more Covid-19 deaths were reported in eight districts of the State on Tuesday, increasing the total toll to 1,671.

Five patients succumbed to the virus in Sundargarh district, three in Sambalpur and one each in Angul, Rayagada, Nuapada, Khordha (Bhubaneswar), Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack districts, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Meanwhile, the State’s total positive cases rose to 3,15271 after 642 more persons tested positive  on the day. Of the new cases reported from 29 districts, 374 were from quarantine and as many as 268 were local contacts.

Keonjhar district reported the day’s highest 70 cases followed by Nuapada 69, Sundargarh  66, Khordha 62, Angul 46, Mayurbhanj 41, Cuttack 26,  Baleswar 25, Jharsuguda and Koraput 21each, Bhadrak 20, Sambalpur 19, Jagatsinghpur 18, Puri17,  Kendrapada,  Balangir and Dhenkanal 16 each, Bargarh and Jajpur 15 each, Koraput 10, Kalahandi seven,  Ganjam six, Rayagada five, Malkangiri, Deogarh and Nabarangpur four each, Boudh and Kandhamal three each and Gajapati,  Nayagarh and Subarnapur two each.

Besides, 12 cases were reported from the State pool.However, 648 persons recovered on the day, taking the total recoveries to 3,07,374.
