2,493 more Covid-19 cases in Haryana, tally reaches near 99K

Twenty-six people succumbed to coronavirus infection in Haryana in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 1,026 on Tuesday, while a daily spike of 2,493 cases pushed the tally in the state to 98,622.

Of the fresh death, five were reported from Karnal, four from Panchkula, three from Kaithal, two each from Fatehabad, Kurukshetra, Hisar, Ambala, Gurugram and Faridabad and one each from Bhiwani and Sirsa, according to the state health department's daily bulletin. Among the districts which reported a big spike in cases include Gurugram (324), Faridabad (270), Hisar (195), Ambala (190), Panchkula (181), Fatehabad (173), Rohtak (151), Karnal (149), Kurukshetra (145), Yamunanagar (123) and Panipat (121).

Meanwhile, Haryana's previous record of highest single-day spike of 2591 witnessed on September 10 followed by 2526 on September 13, 2488 on September 14, 2388 cases on September 11, 2294 cases on September 9, 2289 cases on September 5 and 2286 on September 8.

Among the 1,026 fatalities, 719 are males and the rest females. The State has 20,430 active cases while 77,166 have been discharged following recovery. As of Tuesday, the state has a recovery rate of 78.24 per cent, fatality rate was 1.04 per cent, doubling rate is 27 days and positivity rate 6.45 per cent, according to the bulletin.
