In a major move to combat the coronavirus pandemic, two more Covid care centres would be set up in Khordha district.
An MoU between the Khordha district administration and the IMS & SUM Hospital was signed in this regard on Monday.
While a 500-bed Covid care centre would become operational at Jamujhari, a 300-bed centre would be functional at Jatni.
The two facilities would be used for treatment of mild and asymptomatic Covid-19 patients.
Currently, there is one Covid care centre in the district at the Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Prisons and Correctional Services, Chhatabar, Bhubaneswar with a capacity of 200 beds.
This apart, the district has two Covid hospitals, KIMS Hospital and SUM Hospital, in Bhubaneswar.
