The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday questioned two more suspects in connection with the January 5 violence on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. Police also said that a Forensic Science Laboratory team (Cyber) will also be visiting the campus again to collect more evidences.
Police said that Sucheta Talukdar and Priya Ranjan were questioned in connection with the attack by a masked mob on January 5.
Police sources said she told police that the photo was too blurred. Besides them, the SIT, headed by Joy Tirkey, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crime Branch will be also questioning some of the people who were injured in the attack.
"Those who made calls to the police control rooms on the day of the violence will also be questioned," said a senior police official.
"I gave one-and-a-half page statement to the police. They asked me about the January 5 incident, where I was that day, details of students injured and whether I could identify anyone else. I was shown my photo (one that the police had released in the press conference last week)," said Talukdar, after being questioned by the SIT,
Thirty-four people, including students and faculty, were injured on January 5 when a masked mob entered the campus and attacked them with rods and sledgehammers.
On Monday visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University and questioned three students, including JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh in connection with the January 5 violence on the campus.
According to police, Pankaj Mishra, Vhasker Vijay Mech and Ghosh were called for questioning after serving them notices. Police said that Akshat Awasthi and Rohit Shah, who featured in a sting operation conducted by a TV news channel, have also been served notices to join the investigation but their mobile is switched off.
