22 flee TMC, walk 7 km to reach home

As many as 22 people fled from a temporary medical centre (TMC) and walked 7 km to reach their village in Gajapati district on Monday night alleging lack of basic amenities at the TMC.

According to information, after two villagers tested positive for Covid at Sara village of Khandaba gram panchayat under Kashinagar block, two pregnant woman and 22 others were sent to a quarantine centre at Ulabhadra as they were found having Covid symptoms. However, the 22 villagers refused to stay there, alleging that the centre had no basic facilities. Then, they were sent to the Alada Adarsha Vidyalay quarantine centre. They also made the same allegation here and escaped the centre. Later, Government officials convinced them and lodged them at the Khandaba quarantine centre.
