28 more Covid-19 deaths, 1,871 fresh cases reported in Haryana

Haryana on Tuesday recorded 1871 fresh COVID-19 cases and 28 more deaths over the last 24 hours.

With this, the overall COVID-19 count has gone to 2, 35, 997 and 2456 deaths.

A total of 2461 COVID-19 patients cured from different hospitals of the State over the last 24 hours, taking the total count to 2, 15, 797. Now, there are total 17, 744 active cases out of which 412 are said to be critical who are on oxygen support and ventilator support, stated the state’s health bulletin.

The death rate too has slightly gone up to 1.04 per cent and the positivity rate and doubling rate has gone to 6.69 per cent and 68 days respectively.

The testing rate was recorded at 142062 tests per million per day.

Maximum five deaths of the day each were reported from the worst affected district Gurugram and Faridabad, four from Hisar, three from Karnal, two each from Ambala, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri and one each from Rewari, Kurukshetra, Mahindergarh, Jhajjar, Nuh, the bulletin stated. 

495 COVID-19 cases were reported in Gurugram while Faridabad reported the second highest 392 new cases of the day. 90 COVID-19 cases were reported in Rohtak, it added.

Punjab reports 14 fatalities, 630 fresh cases

Punjab on Tuesday reported 630 fresh cases besides 14 fatalities, pushing the state’s COVID-19 infection tally to 1,52,709 and death toll to 4,821.

Reporting the highest mortality rate across the country for over two month now, the state’s highest number of casualties in the past 24 hours were reported from Jalandhar where four persons succumbed to the deadly contagion, followed by three in Mohali, two in Muktsar and one each in Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Ropar. The state has a mortality rate of 3.16 percent.

 Of the total fresh cases, the highest 129 were reported from Mohali, followed by 118 in Ludhiana, 85 in Jalandhar, 57 in Bathinda, 47 in Amritsar, among others.

 In all, 812 patients were discharged after recovering from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,40,254 at the rate of 91.84 percent.  The state has 7,634 active cases — accounting for five percent of the total confirmed positive cases in the state till date, of which 147 patients are on oxygen support, while 13 are critical and on ventilator support.

Chandigarh reports 128 new cases, one death

The union territory of Chandigarh reported one COVID-19 related fatality as 128 positive cases surfaced on Tuesday. According to the Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin, the death toll reached 278 while the total case tally was recorded at 17537. An 89 years old male resident of Sector 15, a case Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension, who was tested COVID positive, expired at Mayo Hospital, Mohali.

There were 1086 active cases in the city till the evening. 103 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours pushing the total number of recoveries to 16173, the bulletin said.

Among 128 fresh cases, 72 were males and 56 were females. 

A maximum of eight cases were reported in Manimajra in the last 24 hours.
