The Covid-19 tally in Uttarakhand surged further on Thursday with the State health department reporting 298 patients of the disease. It resulted in a jump in the number of cases as the patient count mounted to 8552 in the State.
The authorities discharged 194 patients from different hospitals of the state after their complete recovery on Thursday which increased the number of recovered patients of the disease to 5427.
The recovery rate in the state is now at 63.46 per cent with 4.80 per cent of total samples tested positive for Covid-19. The doubling rate of the disease in the state is now at 28.14 days.On Thursday, 68 patients were detected in Dehradun out of whom three are healthcare workers. In Udham Singh Nagar district 56, Haridwar 38, Uttarkashi 34, Nainital 33, Tehri 30, Bageshwar 21, and Chamoli nine and in Almora five patients were reported.
Two patients each were detected in Pauri and Pithoragarh districts each. Sitarganj MLA Saurabh Bahuguna had to be hospitalised in New Delhi after he was found positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. In Udham Singh Nagar district three healthcare workers and returnees from Saudi Arabia were among the positive patients detected on the day.
In Uttarkashi district 34 more Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were found infected on the day. A day earlier 30 ITBP men in the district were found infected by the disease.The authorities discharged 53 patients in Haridwar, 36 in Dehradun, 34 in Udham Singh Nagar, 32 in Nainital, 14 in Almora, nine in Uttarkashi, six in Pauri, four in Champawat and two each in Rudraprayag, Tehri and Chamoli districts on the day.
The State now has 2989 active patients of the disease with Haridwar continuing its top position in the table of active cases with 733 cases closely followed by Udham Singh Nagar district which has 714 active cases.
Nainital is in third position with 563 active cases while Dehradun is in fourth position with 447 active patients of Covid 19. Uttarkashi has 157, Pithoragarh 99, Bageshwar 56, Champawat 52, Tehri 48, Pauri 43, Almora 36, Chamoli 25 and Rudraprayag 16 active cases each of Covid-19.
