Saturday, 23 May 2020 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Crime branch of Bhopal police has nabbed two persons from Modi apartment near Bhopal eye hospital and seized 3,630 litres of oil paint thinner worth Rs 5.44 lakh. The liquid is highly inflammable and was a great risk to store in residential area.

After receiving information a flat at the ground floor in Modi apartment was raided and massive amount of thinner was seized from the flat.

From the flat two persons were nabbed who were identified as Mohan Singh and Arjun Viswakarma of Bhopal. The two revealed that the business is run by Akhilesh Gupta of Kanpur UP. The firm in Bhopal is MP Enterprises and deals in solvents for paints and other liquids.

The two failed to provide documents related to the storage of such massive amount of highly flammable liquid and after which the thinner was seized.

Police said that the main accused Akhilesh would be contacted in the further investigation.

The locals were afraid after the Gwalior incident in which seven people died after a manufacturing unit went into flames and were aware that the firm deals in highly inflammable solvent and stores a massive amount at their place.

A complaint was lodged by the locals as having such a massive amount of thinner in the ground floor would risk several lives of the people who are staying in the locality.
