A three-day ‘Pehchan Samaroh’ organized by the Madhya Pradesh Government Culture Department on folk tales, was organized on the social media platform. Marking the closure of the fest on Sunday, folk play Batno Pakko Chor.
It is a play adopted from story Fitrati Chor, the folk tale written by Vijaydan Mehta.
The story revolves around a thief, who was blessed by a saint that he cannot speak lie. He promised the saint that he will not speak a lie, will not eat food in a golden plate and will not marry a princess. The thief then becomes an honest thief and never lied.
He finally reaches the kingdom’s palace for theft. The queen of the palace provokes him to marry him and kill the king but, the thief remained truthful towards his promise.
He declines the queen’s proposal and queen out ordered him a death sentence. The play revolves around the life of an honest thief and how the thief save himself from the cruel queen formed rest of the story.
Meanwhile, performances under Uttaradhikar series were also held at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum's YouTube Channel. Presentation of folk singing of Baghelkhand region by Omprakash Gandharva and group was held on Sunday.
The presentation began with Hindali 'Barsa Hai Pania', followed by Banra 'Hamari Janakpuri Sasurar', Gari 'Patin-Patin Re Pari Re Pataria', Fagua 'Saffron's Ude Fuhara' and Nachanhai 'Jare Bhinsari Ki Nindia', Bhagat 'Khorin-Khorin Phire' Introduced songs like 'Sharda' and Kajri 'Hari Rama Piya Gaye Pardes'.
Omprakash Gandharva has been active in the field of singing for a long time. Shri Gandharva has given many performances of Bagheli singing at various art forums of the country.
