3 siblings swept away in Mahanadi

Monday, 03 August 2020 | PNS | ATHAGARH

One Suba Reddy from Andhra Pradesh, who for the last ten years is engaged in a muri factory in Banki town, on Sunday went to the Mahanadi near the Sunadei hill with three of his kids for bathing where due to being unaware of the water level the legs of his nine-year-old daughter slept in the stream.

When she shouted for help, Reddy’s son (6) and daughter (12) tried to rescue her but failed to do so and were themselves swept away. When all the three cried, some fishermen rushed to the spot and fished out Reddy’s son and one of the daughters. The elder daughter remained missing for two hours before her body was recovered by the fire brigade personnel after a search operation.
