As many as four labourers were killed and four others injured when a tractor turned turtle at Kaduapadar village near Bhawanipatna of Kalahandi district on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Gayatri Majhi, Saibani Majhi, Urmi Majhi and Manas Majhi, all residents of Labaneswar village under Bhawanipatna block.
According to reports, the labourers were returning to their village by the tractor from Sagada village. The mishap took place at around 8 pm when the driver lost control over the vehicle. Soon after, the driver fled from the scene.
While two labourers were crushed under the wheels of the tractor and died on the spot, six others were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Bhawanipatna, where two others died while undergoing treatment. Four others were under treatment in critical conditions till past reports came in.
