55-yr-old ACP killed in road accident

A day after 55-year-old Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) was killed in a road accident at Southwest Delhi’s Rajokri Flyover, a Delhi Traffic Police official said the officer, who was on duty at the time of incident had earlier never intimated about any threat to the department. Police also said they are investigating the incident from all possible angles.

Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava also paid tribute to the departed ACP Sanket Kaushik at traffic police headquarters in Todapur. Kaushik was posted in traffic unit of the Delhi Police.

According to a senior police official, on Saturday night around 8 pm, Kaushik was taking stock of the traffic situation, after parking his vehicle on the roadside near Rajokri Flyover, when a truck hit him from behind.

“The mini truck’s driver fled from the spot. The other policemen also chased the vehicle but could not succeed. Kaushik was rushed to AIIMS Hospital where he was declared brought dead,” the senior police official said. “Police teams are scanning CCTV cameras in the area to identify the truck driver. A case under relevant Sections has been registered at a local police station,” said police.

Kaushik is survived by his wife and three children. He had joined the Delhi Police as Sub-Inspector in the Year 1989. His initial posting was in Southwest. In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Inspector and during his posting, he also served in Central district in Security and Traffic units.
