With 57 persons found infected of Covid-19 on Thursday, the tally of positive cases crossed 1300-mark in the union territory of Chandigarh. The total tally stood at 1327 which included 529 active cases till the evening.
50 fresh cases were detected through RT-PCR testing while seven cases were reported through rapid antigen tests in the city. The cases were reported from Sectors 8, 19, 22, 24, 26, 30, 32, 34, 38, 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, 46, 52, 63, Dhanas, Bapu Dham colony in Sector 26, Maloya, Burail, Ramdarbar, Dadumajra, Behlana and Manimajra. “With 57 fresh infections, the total cases in the city were 1327. 62 patients also recovered from the virus taking the total number of recoveries to 777,” stated Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin.
The recovery rate of positive cases stood at 58 percent. With 20 COVID-19 related fatalities till now, the fatality rate recorded was 1.50 percent in the city.
10 COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Sector 45. 16034 samples have been tested till date, the bulletin said. A day before, the city had recorded its biggest single-day spike with 64 positive cases. Meanwhile, Assistant Sub-Inspector Bhupinder Singh of Chandigarh Police, who has been sensitising people about the COVID-19 pandemic was tested positive for COVID-19. The ASI had created quite a buzz online with his songs battling against the COVID-19 and Arogya Setu app. He has carried out an intensive awareness campaign to sensitize people about the virus and his videos of singing songs in parks and streets of Chandigarh had gone viral.
