660 cases reported in a day, total crosses 12K-mark

Delhi crossed the 12,000 mark in novel coronavirus cases as casualties surged to 200 on Friday. In past 24 hours, 660 cases were reported which was the biggest single - day spike till day.

At times when the recovery rate is improving ‘relatively’, the spike in Coronapositive cases are a cause of concern for the Delhi Government as 600 plus cases in 24 hours has become normal as active cases graph  has also increased as reported 6214 till date against 5897 recovered patients.

Amidst the lockdown four, when Delhi residents have come out for business and job related activities, Delhi Government along with civil  corporations, health officials have been trying to bring the situation under control. The recovery rate has given hope for the Delhi Government as it is expected to cross 50 percent in the coming weeks.

According to Delhi Government order, Delhi has now 79 containment zone while 33 areas have been de-contained.

Senior officials in the administration said that with the help of local administration including police and Sub Divisional Magistrate ( SDM ), health officials and cooperation at community level, the administration has been able to control the epidemic in containment zones however there is lot to be done, the official pointed out.

Further, the State administration has given  scaling down order to area SDMs of Model Town, Snagam Vihar, Deoli Extension, Khirki Village , Jain Mohalla, Nizamuddin West and Shastri Park of North - East Delhi.

Earlier this week, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, urged the residents of the national capital to show discipline during the fourth phase of the coronavirus lockdown.

Citing the example of fight against dengue and pollution, Kejriwal encouraged people to stay indoors as much possible while he also said that people must learn to live with coronavirus while protecting themselves and others around them.
