A 780-bed Covid Care Centre has been established at the Biju Pattnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, by the Rourkela Municipal Corporation looking into the soaring figure of Corona positive cases in Sundargarh district.
Besides, a dedicated registration center has been established at the BPUT multipurpose building.
The RMC on Monday informed that considering the stiff rise in Covid positive cases, it has increased its Covid care facilities. According to a release, apart from exiting 200 bedded Covid Hospital at Hi-Tech Medical College, Rourkela, the RMC has established Covid care centres in three buildings of BPUT, Rourkela, where as many as 780 Covid positive patients can be treated.
"The center is well equipped with various facilities of Covid treatment, besides arrangement of sanitisation, food and drinking water for the patients," the release said. "A dedicated Covid registration counter has also been opened at BPUT's multi purpose building, where in the people coming from outside Rourkela will register themselves," the release added.
"Apart from this, at different locations of Rourkela city, temporary medical camps (TMC) have been established, where in as many as 550 persons can be accommodated, as a part of institutional quarantine," the release said.
"Besides, efforts are on by the RMC to establish several TMCs, in a bid to accommodate another six hundred persons," the release added.

According to sources, while at least three areas of the city has been declared as containment zone, the RMC on Sunday evening declared Traffic gate area as the containment zone. The areas included the vegetable market, Street starting from Gali-1 , Gali-2, Traffic Gate basti. The vehicular movement of public transport and personal movement in the locality has been stopped and all the residents of the containment zone have been advised to confine to their homes.
