82 die of virus in 24 hours

The Delhi Government on Friday added 82 coronavirus deaths to the overall toll, taking the total to 398. While 13 out of 82 have been reported in last 24 hours, 69 deaths occurred in the last 34 days.

Government’s reaction came after the allegations on Delhi Government for under-reporting fatalities. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyender Jain stressed on the home isolation.

“80-90% of infected people are recovering in home quarantine.  Not mandatory to be admitted in hospitals for patients with no or mild symptoms,” said Sisodia. 7,846 corona-infected patients have recovered, Jain said and added that the  recoveryrate is now at 50 per cent.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday said that 13 deaths reported in the National Capital due to Coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

Manish Sisodia said that 69 old corona related deaths have also been added in our health bulletin that occurred in a span of past 34 days.

The coronavirus cases count in the national capital witnessed a record jump of 1,106 in a day, taking the total tally to 17,387 while the death tally has reached 316. 

“Fifty two cases were reported from Safdarjung hospital. The rest were from other hospitals. So the health bulletin will reflect 82 deaths, but out of these- 18 deaths have happened in the last 24 hours and the rest 69 deaths have happened in the course of the last 34 days,” he said.

The death cases reported to the Government late so the data updated accordingly, he added.

Stressing the need to maintain personal hygiene and social distancing to keep Coronavirus at bay, Sisodia said that there is no need to panic as situation is under control.

More than 50 per cent people in Delhi have recovered and huge portion of corona affected people is recovering through home isolation, he said. 

Advising residents not to panic over rising number of Coronavirus cases, he said “It is important to keep ourselves safe from the disease by wearing masks and practising social distancing and there is no need for us to panic. It is worth mentioning that around 80 to 90 per cent of infected people are recovering in home quarantine,” he said.
