In order to ensure the safety of its staff, SDMC on Friday conducted screening of 95 public health workers, field workers and Safai saniks who were deployed for cleaning and sanitisation drives in Nizamuddin and adjoining areas.
A senior SDMC official said that the civic body has equipped its medical staff, field workers and Safai Sainiks with nitrile gloves and triple layered masks besides PPE kit to protect them from being infected with Coronavirus but still their health are monitored as part of precautionary measures.
The civic body had carried out a massive sanitation drive the area after news of a sudden outbreak and detection of multiple coronavirus cases at the Delhi-based headquarters of Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin came in light that was attended by thousands of followers including J&K, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
However, no symptoms of Covid-19 were found during the screening done by the panel of specialized doctors namely Dr Prasad, Dr Umesh and Dr Sardana, he said.
Besides, the SDMC also conducted intensive sanitation drive in Kasturba Niketan, Lajpat Nagar, Bakkarwala Quarantive Center, Kapashera extension, Mahavir Enclave, Matiala, Dwarka, Mahipalpur, Kapasheraand, Punjabi Bagh, Subhash Nagar, Khayala, Hastsal and Kalkaji by deploying tankers for spraying one per cent Sodium Hypochlorite Solution to curb down the spread of Coronavirus.
Regular action plans have been chalked out and are being followed to disinfect and sanitise the major hot spots of Coronavirus in all four zones, the official said, adding that a special sanitization and cleaning drives are being conducted in densely populated areas specially JJ colonies and clusters.
SDMC have also started ground level monitoring on a continuous basis to assess the ground reality so that it can deploy more manpower and machinery at Corona affected areas.
