After ‘The Pioneer’ published a report on four GRP personnel at DGP headquarters in Signature building being quarantined and the threat of coronavirus infection they posed to other officers and personnel, ADG (Railways) Sanjay Singhal ordered the sealing of Railway Police Headquarters situated on the third floor of the building on Monday afternoon.
The fourth tower of the third floor houses the offices of ADG, staff officer to ADG, IG, DIG of Railway Police and their staff besides two special prosecuting officers (SPOs).
Only a few hours after the ADG sealed the office premises, four other Railway Police cops, who were quarantined at GRP Lines in Charbagh, tested positive for coronavirus infection.
One of the infected cop turned out to be ADG’s staff officer Rafiq Ahmad’s driver RA Verma. Verma had been coming to the Signature building regularly and hence the chances of the personnel and officers he came in contact with running the risk of contracting the infection is inadvertent.
On May 26, a Railway Police driver who used to ferry colleagues from Charbagh to Signature building had tested positive. Since the driver was in constant touch with his colleagues during the travel, four Railway Police cops, including a staff of IG (Railways), were quarantined on Saturday.
