Admin to get tough

With a quantum jump in the number of COVID – 19 positive cases in the city, the administration has decided to conduct raids at different public places, shops, and markets where norms of social distancing are being violated. A team comprising local police stations in-charge along with incident commanders will visit different areas from 4 pm to 9 pm and take action those violating norms of social distancing. Moreover, those carrying valid vehicle passes will be allowed to enter the district.

“Despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases, people are still not following the rules. Strict enforcement of the triad of precautionary measures — use of masks and sanitisers and following social distancing — in public spaces has become a priority,” said an official.

Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla and Senior Superintendent of Police Tamil Vanan directed police authorities not to give entry to the visitors from other states on the inter-state border in case the vehicle is not carrying a valid pass.DC has asked people to eat while standing near street food points, there is a facility of home delivery, people should use it. Five or more people cannot stand near the shops and they must comply with social distancing among themselves. He also informed that several camp jails are being identified for the violators.Shukla reiterated residents not to leave their homes unnecessarily, if it's urgent they need to go out then they must use masks, as well as wash hands with soap and sanitiser at regular intervals.

He added that shops should allow only a limited number of customers into the premises at a time. “Social distancing is a need of the hour and we shall enforce it,” he added.

He also denied possibilities of community transfer at present. However, he added that people need to be alert.

 “ People visiting shops, banks, offices, and establishments — all of them are already aware of precautions to be taken, if they do not implement mask wearing and ensure safe distance, the city police will initiate legal action. This has already started,” said SSP.

He called upon the people to enforce wearing masks and social distancing in public spaces. He urged citizens to enforce mask wearing and social distancing.

Orders have also been issued to identify shops or market places that are inviting crowds and not paying heed to the safety norms.

In East Singhbhum district, 584 positive cases have been reported so far. The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was taking all appropriate steps after COVID-19 patients were found in the city. He instructed all the social and business organisations of the district to maintain social distancing and get others to follow it.
