Administrator asks PGIMER to chalk out plan to check spread of Covid-19 in BDC

With cases of Coronavirus continuing to surge in containment zone of Bapu Dham colony in Sector 26 here, the Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore on Tuesday asked the PGIMER to send a public health team to the colony and come up with a recommendations to improve field operations as well as ensure that all health protocols are being followed there.

During his daily review meeting, the Administrator discussed the progress of screening and medical testing and continuing treatment of Covid patients in various medical institutions. 

He also directed the senior officers to focus on the containment zones, so that there is no further spread of infection in the areas.  The Administration has so far declared six containment zones in the city including Bapu Dham colony.

Seven fresh cases were reported in the city till Tuesday evening taking the total number to 187 out of which maximum of 118 are from Bapu Dham colony (BDC). It was informed that there are 154 active cases in Chandigarh and Covid Care Centers have been operationalised at Sood Dharamshala in Sector 22.  This Centre will be managed with medical team from GMCH, Sector 32. 

He further said that the decision regarding easing out lockdown will be taken after discussion with Government of India and all stakeholders. It was decided during the meeting that the Administrator will hold a webinar on May 13 with the mediapersons to seek opinion regarding easing out plan out of lockdown after May 17.

The Administrator was apprized that the vegetable traders from Sector 26 have been moved to ISBT, Sector 17. The distribution of fruits and vegetables through CTU buses will continue for few more days.
