Another Cuttack fake spice unit busted

Police on Saturday busted a fake spice unit allegedly manufacturing adulterated spices like turmeric and chilli powder.

The duplicate spices processing unit was unearthed at the Bhadimula area under  the Chauliaganj police station.

The  Chauliaganj police had information that an adulterating turmeric and chilli powder processing unit was operating at Bhadimula village. Subsequently a raid was conducted on the unit, said Zone 1 ACP, Amarendra Panda.

Panda said that several chemicals, raw materials and labels of various reputed companies were seized during the raid.

”The trade licence of the company had expired since March 2019 and the company also lacked necessary permission from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).One person has been detained in connection with the incident,” Panda added.
