The Chhattisgarh government has authorized one more hospital in Raipur to conduct RT-PCR Covid test.
With this, RT-PCR tests can now happen in 11 labs, of which seven are with the government and four in the private sector, an official press release said on Thursday.
The Ramkrishna Care Hospital in Raipur in the latest to do RT-PCR tests.
RT-PCR tests are also happening in RIMS, Shri Shankaracharya Medical College Bhilai and Life Worth Hospital in Raipur.
Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo has asked officials to maximize the numbers of Covid tests in the state. The 11 labs can test 8,000 samples every day, the press release said.
The RT-PCR test is considered highly reliable to detect Covid.
Along with RT-PCR, 32,000 Covid samples are being tested daily through Antigen and True-nat methods.
With increase in the number of Covid sampling in the past four weeks, the number of Covid patients has decreased.
On November 25, the infection rate in the state was 5.5 percent, which on November 15 was 8.5 percent. Likewise, on November 1 it was 8.6 while on October 15 it was 10, the press release said.
