Sleuths of UP Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS) arrested a key west UP arms supplier, wanted by Bulandshahr and Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) police for loot and murder.
The ATS said that the arrested person was actively involved in the supply of .32 revolvers to Khalistani militant groups and was also wanted by Punjab Police and National Investigating Agency.
The Punjab Police were informed of the development and he would now be handed over to them for legal action.
As per an ATS release on Thursday evening, a team acting on inputs from Punjab Police, nabbed wanted criminal Arshad Ali aka Munshi from Meerut on Thursday morning. Ali is a resident of Lakkhipur in Meerut.
During quizzing, the accused disclosed that in 2016, deputy chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of Punjab, Brigadier (Retd) Jagdish Kumar Gagneja was killed in which Khalistani militant Dharminder Singh aka Gugni of Ludhiana was arrested last year. He claimed to have provided him weapons through aides Javed of Kithor (Meerut) and Asheesh Kumar of Tikari (Meerut).
The case was presently being probed by National investigation Agency.
Ali revealed that his name came up during probes by the Punjab Police and NIA and he was wanted by both. His aides, Javed and Asheesh were earlier arrested by UP ATS.
The gun runner further disclosed that besides Gugni, he and Javed also supplied arms to dreaded gangster Sukhpreet Singh aka Buddha of Moga in Punjab, due to which he was also wanted by the Punjab Police. Buddha was a close aide of Gugni.
The ATS release said that cases of loot and murder were also registered against Ali with Khurja police station in Bulandshahr and Dadri police station of Noida.
