B’swar hospital ransacked over girl’s death

A mob ransacked a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bhograi, alleging that a doctor on duty at the hospital didn’t attend a patient properly on Friday night causing her death.  As the tension escalated, the local tehsildar along with police force rushed to the spot and tried pacify the aggrieved.

According to reports, a three years old girl, daughter of one Anil Kamila of Maheswarpur village under Jaleswarpur panchayat of Bhograi block, accidently fell in a pond resulting in her death. Although the family members rushed the girl to the local CHC, yet the doctor declared her dead after examination. But the parents and others alleged that the girl was not provided proper treatment, resulting in her untimely death.The agitators too picketed on the road to the CHC by burning tyres.

Tehsildar Kamlakanta Panda and IIC Bhograi Sujata Khamari discussed with the CHC in –charge and family members. An ex-gratia amount Rs10, 000 was given from the Red Cross fund to the bereaved family. Besides, they were assured of a compensation of Rs 4 lakh.
