Featuring renowned classical violinist Himanshu Vishwaroop, an online musical and interactive session was organised on Sunday. It was organised by Baithak The Art House on Facebook Live.
He played rhe Hindustani classical ragas online, leaving the audience mesmerised. He also talked about the Hindustani Classical music -Traditions of Gwalior Gharana.
Starting from the history and mentioning some pioneer musicians of the Gharana, Vishwaroop also highlighted the work of young musicians.
Hailing from a very cultured and knowledgeably reputed family at Gwalior wchich was and has always been the very cradle of Gwalior Gharana of Indian Classical Music. Dr. Himanshu has the good fortune to learn violin from no less illustrious Guru than Late Pt. Keshavrao (Dada) Surange for about 20 years.
He also had the guidance from Pt. Bimalendu Mukherjee and Late Padmashtee Ustad Abdul Latif Khan.He also learnt from Pt. Babanrao Haldankar, the famous exponent of Agra and Jaipur Gharana.
Vishwaroop has done Post Graduation in Music as well as Ph.D thesis in “Gwalior ki Vadan Parampara” under the able guidance of Dr. Arun Bangre at Nagpur University in 1996. Considered as one of the finest Violinist,he has a repertoire of vast collection of Ragas and his presentation is amply studded with Meend, Gamak and tuneful Gayaki supported by polished layakari of high order.
He is a regular participant in many a Musical Meets and Seminars and his masterly papers have been published in a number of music periodicals. He has translated one book and also written book on the contribution of his Guru Pt.K.R.Surange He has performed all over India in reputed Music festivals.
