While taking all sorts of preventive measures during Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic, the Circle Jail Baripada authorities are providing Ayurvedic medicines freely to the inmates.
DG Prisons Santosh Upadhyay, who inspected the prison of the State on August 8, appreciated the efforts of the authorities to keep the inmates hale and hearty during the Covid-19 pandemic.
All inmates are provided Ayurvedic medicines prescribed by the Ministry of Aayush and efforts are taken to improve the immunity and self esteem of the inmates through various efforts.
Authorities are promoting camaraderie among the inmates and promoting physical health and wellness, which is helping them during Covid-19 pandemic.
In fact, established in 1885, the Circle Jail having scheduled capacity of 591 inmates has turned out to be a correctional and reformatory institution and during pandemic it has relentlessly strived to rehabilitate and reform the inmates.
Jail Superintendent Pradeep Kumar Behera and Jailor Madhusmita Sethi and all the Staff are working in tandem to boost the immunity and esteem of the inmates while taking up various innovative ways and means and keeping the inmates engaged.
The jail is promoting growing and cultivating plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables and herbs for consumption and marketing products. Root vegetables, leafy vegetables, pulses and other consumables are produced in a big way throughout the year.
The jail campus is having a huge garden and all the year round flowers are blooming and environment is charged with freshness. Manufacturing of Sabai Grass products, managing a dairy unit, phenyl is getting fruitfully engaged the inmates and they are producing various household products and decorative pieces, which have big market value.
During the visit of the DG, the inmates requested for a tractor and power tiller for cultivation of paddy, as there is a lot of scope for large scale production of rice.
The Prison Directorate will look into the issues, said DG Prisons, Upadhyay, while appreciating their efforts.
