The district administration on Thursday completed the ward reservation process and released reservation list. Twelve wards have been reserved for SC, 2 for ST while 21 wards have been reserved for OBC.
According to the arrangements, out of 85 wards, 50 wards would be for open category (general) in which 25 will be reserved for women. In OBC 11 out of 21 seats has been reserved for women. In ST category 1 out of 2 scheduled tribes is reserved for women and 6 out of 12 scheduled castes will be reserved for women.
The decision has been finalised as the process has been completed as to which candidate will contest from which ward in the city, which ward will be reserved and women will be given priority to contest from which ward. Reservation in wards has been done on the basis of 2011 population. Ward reservation process has been started and there are total 85 wards in Bhopal.
A total of 12 scheduled caste wards have been reserved in the process. At the same time, 2 wards have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes. In the same unreserved, a total of 50 wards, and 21 wards were reserved for OBCs. Leader of Opposition Saghir and Krishna Mohan Soni will have to find new area to contest.
Congress Councilor Guddu Chauhan's ward 46, leader of Opposition Mohammad Sagir's ward 43, has been reserved for women from general category.
