BJP members led by Ananta Das on Friday staged a demonstration before the district Collectorate here demanding immediate payment of compensation to the farmers who have insured their crops.
The demonstrators also expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order in Balangir.
Anant Das said farmers had insured their crops. Due to lack of coordination between three departments of the State Government, they could not get adequate compensation. “We demand a relook into this issue to provide justice to the farmers.”
Das also urged the district administration to take appropriate action to check the rising crimes in the town.
In another development, the Villagers India party has given an Odisha Bandh call on October 19 in protest against the closure of primary schools in Balangir and elsewhere, informed its president Dr Bipin Kushlia to mediapersons.
